Cayman Vignette

 I decided to revert back to an old tradition in painting, the vignette, an image is contained within an oval, the technique was used for miniature portraits and sketches, this idea consists of fading out the edges of the oval, thereby contrasting with the beauty of the white background, this in turn gave me a back in time image of fishing in the Cayman Islands. The canvases are designed to complement each other on a wall.

Lonely House West Bay

This abode was set back off the road with early morning sunlight just touching it. There did not seem to be any discernible entrance path, even the front door was partially blocked by foliage, acrylic on paper.

      I read Brad Teares blog ‘Thick Paint” before painting this’ he has lots of tips and advice for someone who likes this technique, and is very eloquent when talking on his videos, and  writing  his blog.

Miami Neighborhood

  On my second visit to Miami we were located higher and to the left of where we stayed two weeks ago, which gave me a wider view of the neighborhood. If you could zoom back from this view it would encompass high office buildings and workplaces, these houses were built in an earlier time before the car took over.
